Delegation of the Day: staff

Today the whole camp was allowed to sleep in a bit to be ready for the “all nighter” we were going to have later on as this was the last night of the camp. During breakfast all the kids were instructed to pack their bags. This was easier said than done but we got through with it, after using twice the time first planned :D

Since it was a special occasion the cook made pizza for dinner and the kids were super excited about this.  Then the all the mattresses from beds were brought down to the activity room.  This all prepared us for the last activity in our village, which was writing little notes for everyone in the camp. Each kid, leader, JC and staff got their own little message book to take home with them – a dear memory of the four weeks we spent together at camp to make our Wonderland happen.

We also had the very last Wonderland birthday at midnight,  so in between the tears and writing we also had a chance to enjoy cake and ice cream. Happy birthday, Wallaki!

We all knew  this would be the last time we all would be together as a whole group and it was devastating for many. We cried, hugged and stayed close together sleeping on the mattresses in the activity room.

When the first delegation had to leave (which was about 4am), the others stood around them, waiting to get their turn to hug their best friend, an awesome leader or their roommate through these weeks.

Early in the morning we found Stephanie in the kitchen – cooking  the most amazing apple-toast-pancake thing ever for the ones who were still there at the campsite.

The delegations kept leaving, delegation by delegation…until suddenly they were gone,  soon to be reunited with their family and friends back home.

In the end, it was only the staff that was left (and the Philippines delegation, who were traveling back the following day).

We will miss you guys!

Lots of love from the staff,

Maren, Ine, Marit, Amalie & Chris

Delegation of the Day: Indonesia

We started our day by waking everyone up with a song “Summer of 69″ by Bryan Adams. The song was played on the guitar by Dimas, Indonesian leader. Some of the kids think that the wake-up was nice.

In activity 1 we played all of the games outside. There were 3 games: toaster, smugglers and hi5 game. In toaster game we made 2 big circles. On each circle we had a person standing in the middle and pointing at someone while shouting either toaster, showers, washing machine etc. The persons on the left and right of the person pointed must create specific movement to support the pointed person in creating movement according to it’s name.

We continued activity 1 with smugglers game that they had played before. The last game was hi-5. The kids were devided into red and blue team. Each team had a person whom they wanted to hi-5 with. They had to make as many hi-5s as they can. All the hi-5s had to be done so that the other team wouldn’t touch you. If someone was touched they become a prisoner.

In the second activity we played Peace-Peace-Peace.  We were divided into groups and had to build a city using the materials given, like paper, boxes, cans, clue, strawas, etc. Later on we had to move over to another city and try to improve it to make it even better city.

Activity 3 was a game of “dead bodies”. The kids were devided into teams again. Our target was to find “dead bodies” hidden allover the campsite. The bodies were acted out by leaders, JCs and staff. Each body was worth certain amount of points but we didn’t know how much. They could be either on positive or negative side. The aim was to collect as many points as possible. To keep the bodies with team we had to carry them to our secret hiding-place and treat them nice. We were all very excited, and so were the leaders, JCs and staff because they got really nice treats :)

The day was ended by lullabies as usual. Good night for the last time for everyone!

Hugs from Anissa, Fau-Fau, Aiman, Jendra and Dimas

Delegation of the Day: Germany

We had our 2nd chance to be delegation of the day. It was a very nice day because we had our last excursion (Shopping day) and Formal Night in the evening. Everybody saved money for this special day downtown in Trondheim. So we left after breakfast by bus to hit the shopping malls with 50 kids all dressed in light blue Wonderland Village Camp shirts. The bus ride already was so much fun. All the kids were singing their favorite lullabies and turned these 30 minutes into a cool concert. While some of us wanted to check out the science museum gift shop to buy funny and unique gifts, others (especially the girls) were taken by the 50% sale all over the places.

In the evening we wanted to celebrate our formal night so having shopping day right before was the perfect moment to look for nice dresses or shirts if you haven´t brought something from your home. Even some leaders were lucky and could arrange their outfits’ last minute :) It was also the birthday of Larissa, one of the Austrian girls. After an amazing lunch with lots of different warm and cold food and of course wonderful desserts at Hotel Rica we gathered all together outside next to the beautiful riverside and sang “Happy birthday” for Larissa in all 14 camp languages like Portuguese, Estonian, Arabic, Bahasa and Norwegian.

Right after coming home to the campsite we used the time till formal night and dressed up.

When the formal night finally started we entered a whole rearranged dining room. We enjoyed the nice food of our amazing cook and some of the leaders were serving us. That was awesome. After we enjoyed the last spoon of ice cream we entered the casino and dancing area and enjoyed ourselves. There was a fortune teller, a crazy flying pig race and a “forever friendship” photo booth. Also the Wonderland Kings and Queens were elected within the kids group and for the adult group.

It was really nice. After Larissa blew the birthday cake candle and everybody had a piece of the delicious cake we went to bed – tired but happy!

Love and hugs from Germany!

Delegation of the Day:  Brazil

During the night (right after JC day) the leaders organized one of the most famous CISV activity for the kids – House of Feelings. Each kid was woken up in the middle of their sleep, blindfolded and then taken to different stations by their leader to experience different feelings and sensations.

Because of this activity we had a sleep in today until lunch to relax and get the well-needed rest. After the long sleep and breakfast we had a debrief on the night’s experience.

It was nice and a lot of the kids spoke their minds.

At night the leaders had a night out and we had the babysitters.

We were allowed to go crazy :) And then we had a movie-night with popcorn and lullabies to end the day.

Hugs,

Bruno, Lucas, Tutu, Luiza & Fabinho

Delegation of the Day: JC’s

Today we flipped the schedule and had a backwards day! We woke the kids up with a goodnight-hug and then had lullabies and a goodnight-flagtime.

After quasadillas for “dinner”, we had activity 3 in which we held a t-shirt folding contest and had a leaders’ fashion show (runway included).

Delegation time was followed by a yummy lunch and then shower time. In activity 2 we played Sardines…who knew how many people could fit into the isolation sickroom linen closet?!?!?

Then we played a trust game and after a lot of practice the kids could pass their friends through the air with only their hands!

After an extra long siesta we had a breakfast of pancakes! The kids went back for seconds, thirds and some had as many as 13 pancakes. Wow!

In activity 1, we (the JC’s) put on a show for the kids, we pranked a few kids with fake gameshow that forced them to sit on a wet towel. We also acted some skits that were funny, gross and messy.

After a good-morning-flagtime and a snack we put everyone to bed with a good-morning-hug.

It was a great JC day!

Much love to all of you,

Myrto, Rachel, J.P, Ida, Hannah, Jan-Erik, Fulvia

Delegation of the Day: USA

You are responsible for certain tasks at the camp and everyone gets a turn. On our day we were supposed to wake the rest of the camp up but instead were woken up by our leader telling us it was Handicap Day and we all had to experience a disability. Some people blind and others mute. Adam was tied to another person as conjoined twins. So was Hannah. Wallaki couln’t talk and Zander had his feet tied together as he only had one leg.

We all had to make our way to flag time and continue as normal even though it was so weird seeing everyone with a disability. As delegation of the day we had to set the placemats and do dishes. We had to do this like all other delegations but we were mute, blind, no arms and one leged. It was so much fun.

We played soccer and did an obstacle course. Everyone was helping eachother.

At breakfast and lunch a lot of people needed help eating and even getting the food.

It was fun seeing people hopping around and having one hand or no hands trying to eat. After lunch the activity was over and we all got to talk about what we went through.

Then we played Capture the Flag. At dinner, the eating was back to normal. We got to pick which tables go first so we made up questions about us and whoever got it right would be first in line. After dinner we played the Stereotypes game and learned about other cultures and found out that some things we thought were true actually weren’t.

It was fun being the delegation of the day and being in the kitchen also.

Wallaki, Zander, Adam, Hannah & Mariam

Delegation of the Day: Lebanon

We got to be the delegation of the day two days in a row due to the change of plans. Today we woke up earlier than we usually do because we wanted to go to the lake. The bus came to pick us up at 9. When we arrived at the lake, some of us played badminton, some just enjoyed the sun (yes, we actually had a sunny day!) and others used the opportunity to swim in the lake.

We also had canoes to use, so everyone had a chance to go canoeing on the lake. We had a lot of fun!

Then it was lunchtime – we had a BBQ  hotdogs. After lunch we got back to the things we were doing before.

Some of the boys tried to catch fish with plastic bags and bred. It actually worked and by the time of leaving we had about 12 fish swimming in the “aquarium”.

Later in the afternoon we got back to the campsite and had some energizers and cooperation games. We had to get all the kids out of the circle without using same exit twice. It was difficult in the beginning but we managed to do it anyways!

The day was ended by lullabies as usual. Good night everyone!

Delegation of the Day: Lebanon

We were supposed to go on a camping trip and stay overnight. But the weater was so cold and rainy that it was decided to go for a hike up to the mountains instead.

It was very exciting. However, it was really muddy trip. Actually, it was so muddy that one of our friends lost his shoe in the mud. But with the help from Christopher he got it back.

After the hike we showered at camp site and then got ready for movie-night. We had popcorn and we were allowed to bring our pillowes and blankets to the activity room.

Today’s screening was “Gulliver’s travels” and it was soooo funny. Although we were a bit sad that the overnight camping trip was cancelled we still had a great day!

Lots of love from Lebanese delegation

Delegation of the Day: France

Today was a special day – we had the local TV over to see what we are doing and to show the good times we have to the rest of the world. Or at least to the people in Norway…   Wonderland Village on Norwegian TV

For the first activity we played Fantasy Island. We had to invent a culture, traditions, currency, clothes, map and flag for our island. In the afternoon we had the Auction Game. We had an auction to purchase assets and values for our fantasy islands. In the end of the activity period all groups presented their islands.

In the evening it was the German national night. We ate some German snacks, watched them perform a song and then played a game outdoors :)

We started the day as usual with flagtime and breakfast. The theme of today’s activities was Crazy Olympics. Our Olympic games took place both in activity period 1 from 10-12 and in activity period 2 from 14-16 o’clock.

All the kids were devided into teams of 7-8 people on each team. The teams had to go through diferent exercise stations around the campsite and gather points in order to win the Olympic medals.

The tasks the participants had to do included:

-making human sculpture using the team-members as the only material;

-flip-flop kicking, trying to kick the flip-flops as fas as possible;

-an obstacle course;

-a potato race where they had to run with a potato on a spoon;

- a water spitting contest where they had to aim for the bucket;

-building a tower as high as possible using only cups

-”fishing” an apple out of a bucket filled with water without using hands, followed by “fishing” candy out of flour also without using hands;

-a watermeasuring activity where the teams had to find a way to measure 4l of water only using a container that takes 5l and a container that takes 3l of water.

Each team also had to come up with a name and a chant for their team.

The end of the 2011 Crazy Olympics was celebrated the same evening with a medal ceremony where medals were given to the teams that placed in top three.

The night ended with a danceparty where the dresscode was “crazy”.
