Delegation of the Day: staff

Today the whole camp was allowed to sleep in a bit to be ready for the “all nighter” we were going to have later on as this was the last night of the camp. During breakfast all the kids were instructed to pack their bags. This was easier said than done but we got through with it, after using twice the time first planned :D

Since it was a special occasion the cook made pizza for dinner and the kids were super excited about this.  Then the all the mattresses from beds were brought down to the activity room.  This all prepared us for the last activity in our village, which was writing little notes for everyone in the camp. Each kid, leader, JC and staff got their own little message book to take home with them – a dear memory of the four weeks we spent together at camp to make our Wonderland happen.

We also had the very last Wonderland birthday at midnight,  so in between the tears and writing we also had a chance to enjoy cake and ice cream. Happy birthday, Wallaki!

We all knew  this would be the last time we all would be together as a whole group and it was devastating for many. We cried, hugged and stayed close together sleeping on the mattresses in the activity room.

When the first delegation had to leave (which was about 4am), the others stood around them, waiting to get their turn to hug their best friend, an awesome leader or their roommate through these weeks.

Early in the morning we found Stephanie in the kitchen – cooking  the most amazing apple-toast-pancake thing ever for the ones who were still there at the campsite.

The delegations kept leaving, delegation by delegation…until suddenly they were gone,  soon to be reunited with their family and friends back home.

In the end, it was only the staff that was left (and the Philippines delegation, who were traveling back the following day).

We will miss you guys!

Lots of love from the staff,

Maren, Ine, Marit, Amalie & Chris
